Deep Sea Fishing in Siargao

Pansukian Resort offers two fishing boats, 45ft and 30ft, and can organize fishing trips at any time of the year.

Year-round fishing around Siargao includes jack and giant trevally, weighting as much as 40 to 50 kilos. Around the payaos (artificial fish shelters) dwell small yellow fin tuna (two to five kilos), skipjack tuna, durado, and, with luck, marlin. Night fishing around payaos can net about 100 kilos of squid, depending on skill.

March to May is big-game fishing season for sailfish, for which Siargao is particularly famous. Wahoo (tangigue) and yellow fin tuna are also found during this time. Barracudas are found closer to shore. Night fishing is best from May to November, where yellow fin tuna weighting between 35 to 70 kilos can be found. Trolling for durado (also known as dolphin fish and mahi-mahi) is possible fromAugust to November.

Pansukian can organize a half-day or full-day fishing expedition with Siargao's best fisherman, Junior Gonzalez, providing the boat, equipment and bait. This, obviously, is subject to Junior's availability and the condition of the waves.

Live bait (flying fish) and Rapala skirts are Junior's recommended lures.
