Island tour in Siargao

Pansukian Tropical Resort is the ideal base from which to explore pristine and unspoiled islands. We have two speedboats for the exclusive use of our guests to explore the surrounding islands.

The Lagoon: (half-day tour)

Pansukian Resort is ringed by coral reefs, forming a tranquil, sheltered lagoon. During this tour you will visit three amazing islets located within the lagoon: Pansukian sandbar, Daku Island, Guyam Island.

Pansukian sandbar (Naked Island see slide show)

The dome of sand in the middle of the lagoon is nicknamed "Naked." Its local name, Pansukian, was chosen as our resort's namesake because of the island's position four kilometers directly in front of our resort.

Dacu island (see slide show)

Daku in Visayan means "big," hence the name for Daku Island. The local fishing village is worth a visit on the way to a refreshing swim in the surrounding water. Beautiful coral reefs also make for excellent snorkeling.

Guyam island (see slide show)

Guyam Island is everyone's postcard fantasy of what Robinson Crusoe's island must have looked like. While uninhabited, some innovative people have placed huts which allow visitors to escape from the summer sun.

The Twin islands (half-day tour)

Composed of La Janosa Island and Mamon Island, the "Twin Islands" are located 40 minutes away from the resort. They are considered the easternmost islands of the Philippine Archipelago. On the larger island, La Janosa, colorful bancas line the powdery beach of a fishing village. Mamon Island lies directly opposite its twin, while between lies a lagoon filled with fish and vibrant coral, a great place for snorkeling.

Caub islands (whole-day tour, see slide show)

Caub is located on the western part of Siargao and is only accessible by boat during high tide. Lunch is served at a local's home in the charming fishing village of Sugba. The houses here are built on stilts above a tranquil lagoon. After lunch, we recommend kayaking through the narrow channel that leads to a saltwater lake.

Bucas Grande island (whole-day tour)

An hour away from Pansukian Tropical Resort is Bucas Grande. Mushroom-shaped limestone rocks, green with foliage, sprout from its shimmering blue waters. Bucas Grande bears such a striking resemblance to the Rock Islands of Palau in Micronesia that we suspect were twins separated at birth!

From here, get on a kayak and paddle through Sohoton Cave, the sole entrance into an enormous labyrinth of a lagoon containing a plethora of nooks and crannies to explore. Those seeking even more adventure can dive with their guide through an underwater tunnel leading to a hidden cave.

Stingless jellyfish reside in one of the lagoon's "pools," similar to those found in Palau's Jellyfish Lake. If the weather is too hot, simply paddle under the rainforest canopy between limestone stalactites and watch for eagles, seahawks, giant fruit bats, and other rare and exotic species.

Note: We were lucky enough to see whale sharks on two separate occasions while coming and going on trips to Bucas Grande! So keep an eye out for them on the way there and on the trip back and keep your mask, snorkel and fins ready. There's nothing more memorable and awe-inspiring than a personal encounter with these gentle giants of the sea.
